The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has received a new financial contribution of $11,000,000 from the United States to support its life-saving interventions for nearly 1,000,000 children and their families in Yemen.

UNICEF confirmed that the new funding will provide life-saving nutrition services to more than 159,000 children under the age of five, and to more than 89,000 pregnant and lactating women. More than 718,000 people, including 366,582 children in 16 governorates, will benefit from integrated nutrition, water, sanitation and emergency environmental sanitation support programs.

The UNICEF Representative in Yemen, Peter Hawkins, noted that the needs of children in Yemen are serious. However, thanks to the humanitarian contributions and interventions provided, it is possible to provide life-saving integrated nutrition services.
