At a time when Yemen is witnessing an increase in the rate of hunger due to the unprecedented rise in prices, the United Nations announced in a statement issued by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” that it will distribute emergency aid to 24,000 poor families in Yemen, worth $5 million. This assistance will reduce food insecurity and help restore livelihoods and family income.

The financial contribution is $5 million to support the emergency activities of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Yemen aimed at providing support for food security and essential and life-saving livelihoods. Through this contribution, the United Nations will deliver emergency aid to more than 24,000 of the most affected families (about 168,000 people) in the governorates of Hajjah (northwest) and Lahj (southwest). The project will focus on female-headed households, families with lactating and pregnant mothers, the elderly, people with disabilities and the internally displaced population.
