The United Nations announced the allocation of $ 20 million to relief the displaced in Yemen, whose number has exceeded 4 million due to the ongoing conflict.

Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said that “$20 million has been allocated to urgently respond to the needs of the new displacement in Yemen.”

“The renewed hostilities have increased humanitarian needs and displaced more than 65,000 people,” he added on his Twitter account.

The amount allocated, according to the UN official, will contribute to helping 270,000 people, including the newly displaced and their hosts, without further details.

According to statistics announced by the United Nations about a week ago, the number of people displaced by the conflict in Yemen has risen to 4 million and 200 thousand people.

Recently, the Yemeni government appealed to UN and international organizations to provide relief to many displaced people who are facing extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.

In recent weeks, the escalation of escalation between government forces backed by the Arab coalition (led by Saudi Arabia) on the one hand, and the Iranian-backed Houthi group on the other, has increased, which has increased the number of displaced people in the country.

Until the end of 2021, the war in Yemen, which has been going on for about 7 years, resulted in the deaths of 377,000 people directly and indirectly, according to the United Nations.
