At the donors’ conference in Britain and Netherlands, Octavia Energy and Calvalley Petroleum donated $300,000 to save the floating Safer oil storage in the Red Sea. The conference aimed at raising the additional funds needed to start implementing the emergency phase of the Safer rescue operation, and to prevent an imminent environmental disaster.

The conference also aimed to raise $29,000,000, which is required to implement the emergency phase of the UN-coordinated plan to save the Safer storage, and to avoid a huge environmental, commercial and humanitarian catastrophe that exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

The UN and the international community called on donors and the private sector to expedite bridging the financing gap to start implementing the coordinated UN plan to address the problem.

“This donation demonstrates our commitment to Yemen and the Yemeni people,” said Darren Lucas, the spokesperson for Octavia Energy and Calvalley Petroleum. He invited all other private sector companies to donate to the rescue.

The two companies continue to invest heavily in the local economy, create jobs, and help the community during this challenging time.
