Last week, the Kuwait Society for Relief in Yemen began implementing its school rehabilitation and restoration projects in the governorates of the Republic of Yemen as Part of the “Kuwait By Your Side” Humanitarian Campaign. These projects aim to furnish schools in order to prepare for the new school year.

The Executive Director of the Society, Dr. Adel Baashen, states that the process of providing schools with necessary furniture and equipment has already begun to prepare for the new school year. He added that an agreement was signed to restore Al-Shawkani school in Lahj governorate, and that maintenance work has already begun in the school, so that students can be received without any obstacles before the start of the school year. He confirmed that the total cost of renovating the school amounted to 224,132 riyals.

The Kuwait Society has implemented several projects in the first half of this year, 2022. Some agreements have been implemented in eight governorates, including Shabwa, Hadhramaut, Al-Dhalea, Lahj and Ma’rib for renovations, furnishing and maintenance.

In the month of Ramadan, the Kuwait Society also implemented a program to distribute 4,832 food baskets to a number of beneficiaries in Ma’rib, Taiz, Shabwa, and Hodeidah. The program targeted the lowest-income groups and the displaced in these governorates.
