The United States announced on Wednesday providing $290 million additional humanitarian assistance to support Yemen 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan, adopted by the United Nations.

A meeting was held alongside the United Nations Assembly conference on Wednesday, to discuss donors’ pledges for the Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan 2021, which was hosted by the European Union, Sweden, and Switzerland.

According to the US State Department’s statement, the announced assistance includes $209 million by the United States Agency for International Development, and $82 million by the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration.

In a press release, The United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the United States has provided nearly $806 million in humanitarian aid to Yemen since the beginning of the fiscal year 2021.

He added, ” Total of what the United States has provided is more than 4 billion dollars to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people since the beginning of the current crisis at the end of 2014.”
